LOCATION: O'Hare International Airport , Chicago , Illinois , USA

SCENARIO OF LAST RECORDED SIGHTING: At 4:30 PM , observed motionless at 1900 feet, just below lower cloud deck at O'Hare International Airport above United Airlines Gate C17.

WITNESSES: A United Airlines pilot and a ramp worker reported seeing a hovering elliptical object. A mechanic reported seeing the object while heading from Terminal 5 to a hangar. Two people in United Airlines management said they saw the object. Air-traffic controllers did not acknowledge seeing the object. The witnesses described the object as dark gray but clearly visible in the overcast sky. Estimates of the size range from 6 feet to 24 feet in diameter. The object, described by some as looking like a rotating Frisbee, did not have any lights. Some said it was not spinning. All witnesses agreed that the disk made no noise and that it rested just below the cloud deck, at about 1,900 feet until it shot off at high speed into the clouds, leaving behind a hole in the cloud layer. All witnesses said it was not a weather balloon, airplane, helicopter or any other aircraft known to man.

INVESTIGATION: FAA acknowledged that a United supervisor called its air-traffic control tower at O'Hare, asking if controllers had spotted a spinning disc-shaped object. The FAA said it is not investigating the reported sighting. United Airlines is not investigating either.
